Brisbane Grammar & Somerville House Rowing Sheds West End and Yeronga

These projects were a result of the catastrophic floods in Brisbane in January 2011. During this event the rowing facilities of Brisbane Grammar School and Somerville House were extensively damaged and contaminated by heavy flooding.

The works involved the reconstruction of structural elements in the main buildings as well as refits to the interiors. Both facilities additionally required the toilet and change room facilities to be entirely redesigned and rebuilt. Other specialist areas included in the projects were commercial catering and kitchen facilities. Again, these were redesigned and upgraded to the latest standards. The general storage and functional spaces were either cleaned, decontaminated and recommissioned or demolished and rebuilt as required. A significant number of trades and services were involved including electrical, plumbing and data in addition to the general building works. Both projects were completed in time to cause minimal disruption to the sporting programs of these two prominent schools.
