Brisbane Grammar School & Somerville House Pontoons Brisbane River

Both of these pontoon repair projects resulted from strong downstream currents and high flood levels that carried large sediment and debris loads.

The repair to the Somerville House pontoon involved replacement of dislodged bolts holding the main beams to the concrete piers, removal and replacement of decking, treatment of corrosion and installation of LED lighting.

The more extensive BGS project involved the use of heavy lift cranes to remove the access ramp and pontoon from the river.  The steel frame and decking for the ramp were completely replaced and the pontoon was totally refurbished prior to craning both sections back into position, on the river.
